Little Ginger

Drawing inspiration from hidden geometries of nature and patterns in genetics, Little Ginger takes shape as an abstraction of a ginger flower, its organic form emerging through rhythms of repetition, variation, and sequence.

Little Ginger explores the relationship between nature, geometry and genetics.

Drawing inspiration from hidden geometries of nature and patterns in genetics, the artwork takes shape as an abstraction of a ginger flower, its organic form emerging through rhythms of repetition, variation, and sequence.

In many cultures, the ginger flower symbolises love and matters of the heart. Little Ginger celebrates both the beauty of natural forms and the human stories embedded within genetics.
The sculpture comprises of concentric layers of intricately cut, metal petals, each subtly distinct from the one before. Diminishing in size and stacked vertically, they ascend into a tower-like silhouette that evokes the graceful form of the ginger flower.

Each petal is punctured with hand-drawn motifs derived from the patterns and geometries of chromosomes and genetic structures. This distinctive “spark” motif is also present in the Geneo logo, creating a subtle visual connection between the artwork and the brand’s identity. The perforations create a delicate lace-like appearance, allowing light and shadow to animate the sculpture throughout the day.
