Some of us here at FARM are avid fans of those highly-charged adrenaline pumping interactive video games so when we were provided an opportunity to create whole immersive gaming experience in our design for an international gaming publisher’s headquarters office in Asia, you can imagine we are especially thrilled.
The office design is inspired by one of their game trailers which features the protagonist walking in the centre of the screen amidst an ever-changing backdrop of storylines and cityscapes. This continuously evolving spatial experience is translated into a huge monolithic black table that dramatically dissects the main space and spans 40 metres across the entire length of the office. We call this the Vice Table.
Looking like a mysterious spacecraft from outer space which eventually culminates at the President’s room, the Vice Table serves a multitude of functions – for meetings, casual chats, creative discussions or even a game or two. More than a piece of furniture, this table singularly brings everyone together to the communal zone where they can chill and engage in some ‘healthy vices’. The furniture as object elevates to become an environment where different activities are encouraged.
